The World Rally Championship is the highest rallying competition in the world. Similar to other racing leagues, there are separate championships for drivers, manufacturers and teams.
Unlike the other major racing leagues around the world, the WRC races on all types of surfaces, from the typical roads to dirt as well as snow. Each rally consists of between 15 and 30 stages ranging from shorter stages of 1.2 miles to sometimes upward of 220 miles.

Safari Rally Kenya is one of the toughest rallies on the entire WRC race calendar. It was first held in 1953 as a celebration to Queen Elizabeth II and was part of the WRC from 1973-2002 and once again in 2021.
Since 2021, rallies must consist of just one surface type. Rallies would sometimes change the surface of the car from day to day. However, driving on asphalt is a lot different than driving on dirt and requires the cars to be set up in a different way with very little turnaround time.
How is this different from F1 or IndyCar? Drivers in those sports don’t have to worry about running into trees. When looking to bet on a rally race, find drivers who perform better in those conditions. If a driver is specifically sharp on dirt but awful in snow, that’s something to note as the season moves along.
