MLB Thursday Betting Recap: Underdogs Rule the Day

Favorites Struggle on Day With Plenty of Scoring

The Thursday MLB betting recap shows it was a good day to be betting on the underdogs. Favorites were just 4-6 straight-up for the day. That resulted in an ROI of -33.1%. Blindly betting $100 on all the underdogs would have resulted in a $456 profit for the day.

Overs were 6-4 on the day, bringing the season total to 233-221-17. The sportsbooks have done a good job with their numbers so far. Flat-betting either the over or the under in all games would show a loss.

The Red Sox scored five runs in the second and led 8-1 after four innings to put the game out of reach. Boston cruised to the 11-5 victory. The Red Sox improved to 6-3 as a home underdog this season.

Orioles, Royals in Slugfest

The easiest over winner would have occurred in the Baltimore vs Kansas City game. The total was 9.5 and the Orioles led 8-4 after three innings. The Royals became the fifth team this season to score at least 10 runs and lose.

Atlanta Rolls Along

The Atlanta Braves, the current Miami errors in a 6-3 win. Atlanta led 4-3 entering the top of the ninth. A solo home run and a sacrifice fly made it 6-3 and sent the game over the total of 8.5.

A’s Continue to Struggle

The MLB Thursday betting recap shows the A’s continue to struggle offensively. Over bettors in Thursday’s game with Seattle had to be feeling pretty good after four innings. The Mariners led 5-3 after four innings against a total of 8.5. But the bats went silent the rest of the way and Seattle won 5-3.

Bad Beat in Chicago

Thursday’s game between Minnesota and the White Sox was expected to be a pitcher’s duel. And it was. Pablo Lopez and Lucas Giolito were both solid and Chicago led 2-1 after seven innings. A two-out home run by Byron Buxton made it 2-2. Those betting under 7.5 still looked to be in a good shape. But the Twins exploded for five runs in the top of the 12th and won 7-3.

Run Line Woes in Tampa

The Tampa Bay Rays continue to keep winning. But those betting the Rays on the run line were dealt a tough loss Thursday. The Tampa bats were quiet on Thursday, but the pitcher’s made up for it, as the Rays led 3-0 entering the top of the ninth. A two-out, two-run double by Carlos Santana brought home two runs to make it 3-2.

Rockies Rally Late

The MLB Thursday betting recap shows Colorado rallied late to win as home underdogs. The Brewers led 4-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. The Rockies tied it with four runs in the seventh and tacked on five more in the eighth. The Rockies moved to 5-4 as home underdogs on the season.
