🏁 Miami GP History & Highlights

The first Formula 1 Grand Prix at Miami was held in 2022 three years after initial proposals for a track. The Miami International Autodrome is a temporary circuit built around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, home to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. It was designed by Formula 1 track designers Apex Circuit Design. Thirty-six layouts were simulated before settling on the final circuit layout.

In 2022, it became the 11th different venue in the United States to host an Formula 1 Grand Prix. The circuit uses existing and new roads in its layout and new permanent asphalt has been integrated into the Hard Rock Stadium parking areas for future use. The circuit and safety features take a few weeks for assembly before the race weekend and are subsequently dismantled following the Grand Prix weekend and returned to normal conditions.

Circuit Information

The Miami International Autodrome is 3.362 miles in length with 19 corners.

The current Formula 1 lap record is 1:29.708 set by Max Verstappen in the 2023 Miami Grand Prix. The circuit’s seating capacity is 65,000.

The circuit includes three Drag Reduction System (DRS) zones and an estimated top speed of nearly 200 mph.
