Steph Curry Wills United States to Gold Medal
Hits Eight 3-Pointers in Win over Scrappy French Squad

The best player in the world in the Golden State Warriors superstar, the United States might not have tasted gold for the fifth straight time.
Curry hit 8 3-point shots on Saturday, many down the stretch of a tight game, as the USA defeated 98-87. The double-digit final score is in no way representative of an easy victory. played hard basketball throughout and gave the USA a battle. This victory was another golden moment for USA basketball.
In the end, it had no answer for Curry. Wherever he was, wherever he wanted to be, he hit shot after shot. Splash, splash, splash. Nothing but net.
Devin Booker and Kevin Durant added 15 points apiece. LeBron James had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. In the end, though, the only person Team USA wanted shooting the basketball was Curry. He was that damn good. Curry’s performance sealed yet another golden moment for USA basketball.
got 26 points from Victor Wembanyama. Former Celtic Guerschon Yabusele was a force in the Olympics and remained one in the final game with 20 points.
Curry had 24 points in this game, coming off a contest against Serbia that saw the USA overcome a 17-point deficit mainly due to nine 3-pointers by Curry, who had 36 points in the semifinal. Add it up and Curry made 17 3s and scored 60 points in capturing his first gold medal. This achievement marked a golden moment for USA basketball.

In case you are wondering about Yabusele, he once was a Boston Celtic.
Yabusele hasn’t played in the NBA since 2019, when the Boston Celtics — the team that selected him 16th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft — waived him after two seasons. But after another strong Olympic showing Thursday, the 28-year-old apparently has designs on an NBA comeback. “You gotta tell (the Celtics) to bring me back”
Yabusele said with a smile to The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn. The dunk was reminiscent of what Vince Carter of Team USA did to ’s Frederic Weis in 2000. That dunk came in Sydney and Weis, a Knicks draft pick, seemingly never recovered.
What Does the Future Hold?
The United States was tested throughout the Olympics. They are 35-1 in their last 36 Olympic Games. Any comparison between this team and the original Dream Team is errant. It isn’t so much that this squad was that much worse. It is simply that the world has gotten that much better.
The original Dream Team clobbered its opponents and wasn’t tested. Don’t fool yourself that the times would have made a difference. That bunch was astonishing. The Olympics come to Los Angeles in 2028. There is no guarantee the USA will win gold in basketball. None.
The international game and its stars continue to improve … at warp speed. James will be gone. Curry has said this was the only opportunity he would have to win gold. Joel Embiid is flirting with playing for Cameroon. Savor the victory for what it is: another golden moment for USA basketball.
But don’t fool yourself into thinking it will be easier in four years because of the home country advantage. Olympic basketball is at a level never before reached. The USA needs to continue to grow. Or else 2028 could be disappointing.
